Skyline addiction, it’s in the bloodstream…
For some, that addiction is inherited through parents with several Toyota S800s and a Facel Vega Facellia. Others, through meticulous research leading to Öhlins shocks and a car perfected well beyond manufacturing compromises. Some even joined the route through a few of the most popular video games ever made. From this addiction, a Facebook group was created, and grew organically into a real caring community. Those with ill words to speak – are not welcome here. Centerpoint, Skyline Matsuri; “Our goal is as many cars as possible, everybody gets to meet each other.” “We don’t have a lot in common otherwise.”
If you want to take a group ride down Lombard Street it helps enormously if one of you members just happens to be a constable in the City of San Francisco. And indeed, we had a marvelous ride slinking, soaring, and standing proud through the backwoods of East Bay, where ear-to-ear grins were shared by drivers and passengers, and where tourists and the residents witnessed something quite unusual. For a group that had its first meet on New Year’s Day, 2019, pulling more than two dozen rabbits out of a hat is quite the accomplishment. Many of these are Top Rank cars; each car has a shared story as did each owner. Some are daily drivers; no trailer queens in this batch. A young group, ages ranged from eighteen to mid-fifties, heavily weighted towards the mid-twenties to late thirties. Friendships that will last a lifetime in their nascent stages, built around some of the finest machines ever built. Skylines, a very tasty slice of life for seekers with a deep passion.
